In the area

Ravenglass is a small village on the west coast of Cumbria, the Lake District, which made its living from fishing, and in the 18th Century the harbour was also used for smuggling tobacco and other contraband from the Isle of Man.  Just minutes from Ravenglass and easily accessible by a new cycle track is Muncaster Castle, with magnificent gardens and views up to Scafell Pike, and home of the World Owl Trust. This great location boasts a skyline dominated by towering peaks including Scafell - England's highest peak, whilst the nearby stunning valleys of Eskdale, Wasdale and Dunnerdale provide breathtaking scenery to be enjoyed throughout the year. With beautiful Wastwater - the deepest lake in the country, and St Olaf's - one of the smallest churches in England amongst the many landmarks in this beautiful area, this stunning location will have visitors returning time and time again.
