Brief History

Although little trace of the large port and fort remain, the ruins of the Roman Bath House are the highest free standing Roman walls in the north of England.

The Pennington Hotel and restaurant has a varied history starting back in the 16th Century where it was a coaching inn.  During it's life, it has remained at the centre of the village and as a relaxing place to enjoy a drink and unwind.  Despite it's long history, it was left in ruin for a number of years after it closed as the Pennington Arms Hotel until the current owners too it on to bring back to life.  Now fully refurbished, it is again at the heart of the village and continues it's long tradition of serving local food and a comfortable place to relax for the night.  Why not come and enjoy the wonders of the Lake District coast with us at the Pennington Hotel?
